You can back up your wallet by writing down a 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase – also known as a seed phrase – allows you to restore your wallet and its contents if you ever lose access to your social account credentials and can’t log in, or if your social account is suspended or deleted.
We strongly recommend that you write down your recovery phrase immediately after creating your wallet.
Important: this recovery phrase can be used to access your wallet on any device and it grants the recovery phrase holder full access to the wallet’s contents. If you share this information with somebody, they can access your wallet and steal your funds.
Never share your recovery phrase with anybody, not even customer service.
To back up your wallet by writing down a recovery phrase:
Click the Settings icon in the top right of the wallet widget and click Recovery phrase
After you confirm that you’re in private, you’ll be able to see your 24-word phrase
Write down this phrase and store it somewhere safe offline. If you store this phrase on your computer or online (e.g. cloud storage), it could be intercepted by malicious software or a hacker.
To restore your wallet using a recovery phrase:
Visit wallet.nu.fi (or any other self-custody Cardano wallet)
Click Restore Wallet and select 24 words
Enter your 24-word recovery phrase using lower case letters only
Click confirm, then enter a name and password for your wallet; you’ll use this password to log in to your wallet whenever you visit wallet.nu.fi
Click confirm; your NuFi wallet will open and you’ll see your wallet’s contents restored
Important: after you’ve restored your wallet into NuFi, a small file will be saved in your browser cache. This file contains your wallet’s information and allows you to log in using a password instead of entering a recovery phrase each time. If you clear your browser cache, this file will be deleted and you will need to restore your wallet again using the recovery phrase.
