Exodus is shutting down its browser extension (Exodus Web3 Wallet) on October 1, 2026. If you use it, you'll need a new wallet to keep managing your crypto and connecting to apps. This guide explains how to move everything to NUFI wallet.
Good to know
- Your crypto isn't stored in the Exodus extension: it lives on the blockchain, and your 12-word secret key is what gives you access to it.
- If you enter your secret key into NUFI, your accounts, balances and staking all appear there. Nothing is sent, and there are no fees.
- This works even after October 1, as long as you have your 12 words.
What is NUFI?
NUFI is a self-custody (non-custodial) wallet, like Exodus. You alone hold the keys to your crypto; NUFI never has access to your funds or your secret key.
- Two ways to use it: a browser extension for Chrome, Brave and Edge, or a web wallet that runs in any browser with nothing to install.
- Supports the same networks as Exodus Web3 Wallet: Bitcoin, Solana, Cardano, Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain and Avalanche C-Chain. You can also add Aurora, Flare and Rootstock as custom networks.
- Connects to web3 apps (DeFi, NFT marketplaces, DEXes), so you can keep using the apps you used with Exodus.
- Also lets you stake SOL and ADA, swap tokens, buy and sell crypto, and view NFTs.
- Hardware wallet support for six devices (Ledger, Trezor, and more: guides here)
Before you start
- Find your 12-word secret key. If you haven't written it down, open Exodus Web3 Wallet, click the banner about support ending, and choose View 12-word secret key. Write the words down on paper, in order. See Exodus's guide to viewing your secret key.
- Note what you hold. Make a quick list of your assets, networks and approximate balances in Exodus, so you can check everything appears in NUFI.
- Only use official links. Install NUFI from the Chrome Web Store or nu.fi.
Step 1: Install NUFI
Install the NUFI browser extension, or open the web wallet.
Step 2: Restore your wallet
- Open NUFI and select Restore wallet.
- Choose 12 words, then type each word of your Exodus secret key in order, in lowercase.
Step 3: Name your wallet and set a password
This password is new and only for NUFI. It unlocks NUFI on your device, and it isn't your Exodus password or your secret key. Choose something strong you'll remember.
Step 4: Enable your blockchains
When NUFI opens, it lists the blockchains it supports. Turn on every network you used in Exodus, such as Bitcoin, Solana, Cardano, Ethereum and Base, then save. NUFI restores an account for each one.
Step 5: Add your Cardano and Solana accounts using the Exodus derivation path
This is the most important step for Cardano and Solana users.
- Different wallets generate accounts from the same 12 words in slightly different ways, called derivation paths.
- Exodus uses its own path for Cardano and Solana, so NUFI's standard accounts won't match your Exodus balances until you choose the Exodus option.
For Cardano and Solana:
- Click Add account at the bottom of the accounts list on the left.
- Choose Add new account, then select the blockchain (Cardano or Solana).
- At the top of the account list, click the Exodus tab.
- Tick the account showing your Exodus balance and click Continue.
If NUFI already created an empty Cardano or Solana account in Step 4, you can remove it: click the 3-dot menu next to the account in the accounts list, and choose Forget account. Forgetting only hides it, so nothing is lost.
Step 6: Check everything is there
Compare your NUFI balances with the list you made earlier.
- A token is missing? Some tokens need adding manually. See Import tokens.
- Using Aurora, Flare or Rootstock? Add them as custom networks. See Enable blockchains and add custom EVM chains.
- A balance is still missing? Go through Add account again for that chain and check the other derivation path tabs.
That's it. Your Exodus wallet is now in NUFI.
If you're staking
Because you restored the same keys, your staking carries on as before. Your Cardano delegation and Solana stake accounts should appear under Staking in NUFI, where you can manage them, unstake, or withdraw rewards. There's no need to unstake in Exodus first.
Reconnecting to web3 Dapps
Reconnect to your favourite Dapps with NUFI:
- Open the Dapp and click Connect wallet.
- Choose NUFI.
- If NUFI isn't listed, you can use Wallet Emulation to connect wherever MetaMask, Phantom, Eternl, Xverse and other wallets are supported. Read about Wallet Emulation.
Good to know
- NUFI will never ask for your secret key by email, chat, Discord or anywhere else. Only ever enter it into the official NUFI app.
- Keep your 12 words safe offline. They remain the backup for your wallet in NUFI, just as they were in Exodus.
