TLDR; the Cardano blockchain is experiencing a huge amount of traffic and is congested, and it may take up to one hour for your transaction to be submitted to the blockchain.

Our advice is to wait for up to 1 hour and check your transaction history; if the transaction doesn’t appear, please try again.

Problem:

When I submit a transaction (e.g. sending assets, staking or changing validator, or withdrawing rewards), it says ‘Submitting’ but, even after a long time, this message doesn’t change.

Solution:

When the blockchain is extremely busy, transactions can be 'Submitting' for much longer than usual. This is because transactions may need to wait in something called a 'mempool' for much longer than normal while they wait to be added to a block.

Fortunately, almost all transactions are eventually submitted successfully, though it can take up to 1 hour for the transaction to appear on a blockchain explorer and in your account’s transaction history. If an hour has passed and the transaction wasn't submitted yet, it is set to expire and won't be submitted after that.

Our advice is to wait for up to 1 hour and check your transaction history; if the transaction doesn’t appear, please try again.

Please also be aware that, when the blockchain is heavily congested, you may (in rare cases) see a ‘Could not submit transaction’ message when in fact the transaction was submitted successfully. Since it can take up to 1 hour for a successful transaction to appear in your account’s transaction history or on a blockchain explorer, we recommend waiting for up to an hour and checking your transaction history before trying again.
